Belgium issues travel warning for Tanzania
Brussels, October 31 (Hibya) – Belgium’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation, Maxime Prévot, has urged all Belgians to postpone travel to Tanzania due to ongoing conflicts in the country.
Minister Prévot described the situation in Tanzania as extremely concerning, noting that the clashes have led to deaths and that there is a high risk of escalating violence.
He emphasized that Belgian authorities in Brussels and the embassy in Dar es Salaam are closely monitoring the situation and maintaining contact with the local Belgian community, urging all citizens to postpone their trips.
Prévot also advised Belgians currently in Tanzania to “stay safe and avoid unnecessary travel, carefully follow the safety instructions shared by the embassy, and register your presence through Travellers Online to receive the latest updates.”
He called on all parties to exercise restraint, emphasizing the need to protect civilians and uphold fundamental rights.
