Body of oldest hostage held by Hamas handed over to Israel
Stockholm, October 22 (Hibya) – The body of the oldest hostage taken by Hamas after the October 7, 2023 attacks was among the two hostages’ bodies handed over to Israel from Gaza on Tuesday.
In a statement released Tuesday night, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that the bodies of Arye Zalmanovich and Tamir Adar had been identified, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had notified their families.
The two coffins carrying Zalmanovich and Adar’s bodies crossed into Israel early Tuesday morning and were taken to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine for official identification and investigation into the causes of death.
Hamas has handed over 15 of the 28 hostages’ bodies mentioned in the ceasefire agreement signed by the United States on October 9.
