Brekelmans: We are working through NATO and bilateral channels for security in the Arctic
Amsterdam, 23 January (Hibya) – Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans said that security in the Arctic region is being strengthened through NATO and bilateral cooperation between the United States and Denmark/Greenland.
Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans made statements on efforts related to security in the Arctic, saying: “After a busy week, it is positive that we are now working constructively on security in the Arctic.”
Stating that the work is being carried out under two headings, Brekelmans said: “This process is moving forward via NATO and bilaterally between the United States and Denmark/Greenland.”
He emphasized that these efforts strengthen defence and help prevent the growing influence of Russia and China in the region.
