Budrys: Lithuania will not turn a blind eye
Vilnius, October 14 (Hibya) – Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys said sanctions should be strengthened against individuals and entities that he said support Russia's war against Ukraine. Budrys announced that the assets of Mikhail Fridman and Alisher Usmanov had been frozen under Lithuania's national sanctions regime.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys argued that influential interest groups play a role in prolonging Russia's war against Ukraine. Budrys stated that removing two Russian oligarchs from the European Union's (EU) sanctions list sends the wrong message.
In a statement shared on his social media account, Budrys said, "Lithuania is taking action and will not turn a blind eye to what is happening." He announced that the assets of Mikhail Fridman and Alisher Usmanov had been frozen under Lithuania's national sanctions regime.
Budrys emphasized the need to strengthen and maintain sanctions pressure on Russia, calling for increased pressure on both Russia and those supporting it.
