Ottawa, July 9 (Hibya) – Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand said Canada remains opposed to Russia's participation in international sporting events as long as its attacks against Ukraine continue, stressing that Canada's position on the matter has not changed.

In a statement posted on social media, Anand said Canada would not support any initiative that could contribute to the normalization of what she described as Russia's "illegal war of aggression" against Ukraine. She added that as long as Russia's occupation continues, it should not benefit from the privileges offered by international sport.
Anand also reaffirmed Canada's continued support for Ukraine, stating: "We will continue to stand with Ukraine and remain steadfast in our support for its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity."
