Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis said he met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in New York and that they discussed the geopolitical balance in the Middle East in detail. Cassis stated that Switzerland is deeply concerned about the escalating tensions and their impact on peace and security.

Cassis said that the stability of the region is also Switzerland's stability, adding that their priorities are to prevent further escalation of tensions, keep diplomatic channels open and work toward a negotiated solution.

Cassis said, “Switzerland stands ready to undertake goodwill initiatives wherever they can be beneficial.”
