Ceasefire declared for Ukraine's city of Oleshky
Kyiv, October 28 (Hibya) - A ceasefire has been declared in the city of Oleshky, located in the Kherson region of Ukraine, which is temporarily occupied by Russia.
It was reported that the ceasefire, covering a large section of the front line in southern Ukraine, came into effect on October 27 to facilitate access to the city of Oleshky.
The ceasefire, which will remain in effect until 10:59 p.m. on November 1, is intended to enable the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians still in Oleshky and to make preparations for their safe evacuation from the area.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, who stated that they had been calling for assistance for Oleshky for months, said: "For months, we have been telling the world about the people starving in Oleshky. We have appealed to countries, international organizations, world leaders and prominent religious figures. We are grateful to US First Lady Melania Trump for her contribution and leadership in this critical effort."
Sybiha also stated that if this initiative produces results in Oleshky, it could pave the way for further steps in the peace process.
