European Council President António Costa announced that together with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, they invited Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to the summit to be held in Yerevan.

Commenting on the invitation, Costa said: “Together with Nikol Pashinyan, I invited Mark Carney to attend the next European Political Community summit in Yerevan as a guest.”

Referring to the importance of the summit, Costa said: “This will be the first time a country from outside Europe participates in the European Political Community.”

Regarding relations between Europe and Canada, Costa stated: “Europe and Canada are not only like-minded partners; we are building a global alliance to defend peace, shared prosperity and multilateralism.”
