Czech President Pavel receives country’s first astronaut Svoboda
Prague, September 29 (Hibya) - Czech President Petr Pavel received Ales Svoboda, the country’s first astronaut who is set to travel to the International Space Station next year, at Prague Castle and wished him a successful mission.
Czech President Pavel received Svoboda, the country’s first astronaut who will be sent to the International Space Station (ISS) next year, at Prague Castle.
In a social media post, Pavel said Prague Castle was a center where people studied the universe more than 400 years ago.
Pavel said that during the reign of Emperor Rudolf II, astronomers Johannes Kepler and Tycho Brahe carried out their work in Prague, adding that Brahe had his own astronomical observatory at the Royal Summer Palace.
Pavel said he was pleased to host Svoboda at Prague Castle and wished him success on his space journey next year.
Pavel said he hoped Svoboda would return from orbit not only with unforgettable experiences but also with new knowledge that would contribute to the advancement of research on Earth.
