Czech President Pavel’s Human Rights Day message
Prague, 10 December (Hibya) – Czech President Petr Pavel stated on the occasion of Human Rights Day that in many parts of the world, people pay a heavy price for the right to live in dignity and freedom.
Pavel noted that this struggle sometimes puts people’s comfort, health and even their lives at risk.
He recalled that Czech history shows how quickly freedoms can be lost and how difficult they are to regain. Pavel emphasized that existing rights must be valued and protected. The president added that human rights are not something that exist automatically, but an achievement that requires constant defense.
