EU approves 19th package of sanctions against Russia
Brussels, October 23 (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that the EU member states have approved the 19th package of sanctions against Russia.
Von der Leyen stated that the EU member states have approved the 19th sanctions package against Russia, saying, “We are keeping the pressure high on the aggressor.”
She emphasized that, for the first time, the sanctions target the gas sector, “the heart of Russia’s war economy,” and said that the EU will not back down until the Ukrainian people achieve a just and lasting peace.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice President Kaja Kallas said they had just adopted the 19th sanctions package, adding: “The targets include Russian banks, cryptocurrency exchanges, and institutions in India and China. The EU is restricting the movements of Russian diplomats to counter destabilization efforts. It is becoming increasingly difficult for Putin to finance this war.”
