European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said that a message that Iran will be free has been conveyed from the streets of Tehran to the heart of the European Parliament.

Metsola noted that, by a decision adopted by a large majority, the European Parliament called for an end to violence in Iran, the cessation of interventions and executions against peaceful protesters, and the release of detained demonstrators and political prisoners. The decision also called for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to be designated as a terrorist organization and for steps to be taken to hold those responsible accountable.

Metsola also addressed the Iranian people with the following words:

“Even if the cables are cut, we hear you. Even when there are power outages, we see you. You are not alone. The European Parliament is always by your side.”
