The STOXX 600 index stood at 659.48 points, while Germany's DAX was at 26,331.07 points and France's CAC 40 traded flat at 8,674.94 points.
In the United Kingdom, the FTSE 100 index fell 0.10 percent to 10,833.15 points, while Italy's FTSE MIB declined 0.01 percent to 53,698.66 points.
