European markets showed a predominantly flat and divergent performance during the week's trading session. The UK stock market ended the day higher, while the Italian market closed lower; the STOXX 600, German and French indices finished unchanged.

In the UK, the FTSE index gained 0.35 percent to rise to 10,854.32 points. In Italy, the FTSE MIB index fell 0.24 percent to 52,542.18 points.

The STOXX 600 index, which reflects the overall performance of European markets, ended the day at 654.21 points.

In Germany, the DAX index closed unchanged at 26,106.60 points, while in France the CAC index ended the day unchanged (UNCH) at 8,453.01 points.
