The delegation was headed by Member of the European Parliament Cecilia Strada, while Ambassador Adil Atiyye, Director-General of the European Affairs Department, was also present at the meeting.

During the talks, Minister Şahin discussed the latest developments in Palestine and emphasized the need to increase political pressure within the European Parliament and the European Union to recognize the State of Palestine. He stressed that despite the importance of the current ceasefire, political and humanitarian efforts must continue toward achieving a permanent ceasefire and ultimately ending the occupation. Şahin also called for the implementation of the New York Declaration and for ensuring that humanitarian aid fully reaches the Gaza Strip.

Şahin highlighted the importance of supporting reform and development efforts in Palestine, stressing the need to hold elections across all Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem. He called for an end to settler violations in the West Bank and adherence to international law, and drew attention to Palestine’s right to sovereignty over its natural resources and national capacities.
