Ghebreyesus Welcomes Measures Against Marburg Virus Outbreak
Geneva, December 5 (Hibya) – WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that he welcomes the measures taken in Ethiopia against the Marburg virus outbreak.
WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus expressed his satisfaction with the measures implemented in Ethiopia to combat the Marburg virus outbreak.
He noted that the Ethiopian Federal Ministry of Health has given a strong response and that the initiation of the Sabin Institute’s single-dose Marburg vaccine marks an important step in protecting healthcare workers and other at-risk individuals.
Ghebreyesus added: “Since the first cases were reported, WHO has worked closely with Ethiopian health partners to contain the outbreak. Continuous support from all partners is essential for quickly identifying new cases, providing care, and protecting healthcare workers and communities.”
