Guterres: Dialogue and goodwill are essential for a solution in Cyprus
New York, July 29 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said during his visit to Cyprus that Cypriots want a future shaped by cooperation, opportunity, and peace, adding that the UN will continue to support resolving the Cyprus issue through dialogue, mutual respect, and goodwill.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres met with Cypriots during his visit to Cyprus and shared his assessment of the ongoing efforts to resolve the Cyprus issue.
Guterres said that the common message he heard from the Cypriots he met during his visit was their desire for a future built on cooperation, opportunity, and peace.
Emphasizing that the UN will continue to support efforts to resolve the Cyprus issue, Guterres stated that a solution can only be achieved through a process based on dialogue, mutual respect, and goodwill.
Guterres added that the United Nations remains firmly committed to supporting the parties in finding a lasting solution to the Cyprus issue.
