Guterres: Our oceans are in crisis, but if we act together, we can preserve this legacy
New York, June 9 (Hibya) – United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres stated at the UN Ocean Conference that the global ocean system is facing a serious crisis.
Guterres emphasized that the oceans, once full of life and biodiversity, must not remain just a legend, but become a legacy for future generations.
He noted that the determination shown at the conference was promising: “The will I saw here today gives me hope that we can save our oceans.”
Guterres’ remarks once again highlighted the call for international cooperation in the protection and sustainable use of marine life.
