Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi met with Indian counterpart Jaishankar
New Delhi, May 8 (Hibya) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
During the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister referred to the long-standing civilizational, historical, and cultural ties between Iran and India.
Emphasizing the importance of economic and trade relations, Araghchi stressed the implementation of various components of the decade-long Chabahar cooperation agreement as a priority in bilateral relations. He called for the full utilization of the vast capacities of both countries to enhance economic cooperation.
Araghchi expressed satisfaction with the convening of the 20th Joint Commission meeting, calling it a valuable opportunity to advance bilateral economic dialogue.
He highlighted the strategic importance of stability and security in South Asia for both the Islamic Republic of Iran and the wider international community, expressing hope that recent tensions in the region will be resolved through the prudent and responsible engagement of all parties involved.
The Indian Foreign Minister welcomed the expansion of India-Iran relations across all areas of mutual interest. He emphasized the critical importance of the Joint Commission and expressed India’s readiness to identify and act on new cooperation opportunities in various sectors.
