Israel announces it has cut ties with three international organizations
Stockholm, 14 January (Hibya) – Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it has cut ties with three international organizations following the United States’ withdrawal.
Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday that after the United States withdrew last week from 66 international organizations, Israel severed relations with three international bodies, including two UN agencies.
The ministry added that Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar also instructed a review of ongoing cooperation with an unspecified number of other organizations.
In a statement published on X, it said: “Sa’ar decided that Israel will immediately cut all contacts with the following UN agencies and international organizations.”
The statement also listed UN Energy, the UN Alliance of Civilizations, and the Global Forum on Migration and Development, which is not part of the UN system.
On January 8, US President Donald Trump signed a memorandum ordering the United States to withdraw from 66 international organizations; according to the White House, these organizations “no longer serve American interests.”
The order covered 31 United Nations organizations and 35 other bodies, and included the three organizations Israel withdrew from on Tuesday.
