Kos: Ukraine's EU accession process will be accelerated
Brussels, October 16 (Hibya) - European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos announced that a joint task force would be established to work on interim benchmarks and reforms aimed at accelerating Ukraine's progress in its European Union accession process.
European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos stated that she had met with Prime Minister Koretskyi, who was named in the post, rather than Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, whose name was also rendered as Yulia Sviridenko. Kos said the meeting addressed the next steps in the accession negotiations.
Kos reported that following the opening of two additional negotiation clusters this week, the parties agreed to establish a joint task force to accelerate progress on interim benchmarks and advance reforms related to the rule of law and the fight against corruption. She emphasized that Ukraine's progress toward European Union membership depends on the unity and determination of all Ukrainian stakeholders.
Kos also cited the Ukrainian parliament's adoption of new education laws concerning minorities as an example of cooperation in this direction.
