Swedish Prime Minister Kristersson announced that Sweden and Finland had carried out their first joint operation under the new Quick Reaction Alert cooperation.

Commenting on the operation, Kristersson said, “For the first time, Sweden and Finland carried out a joint operation under the new Quick Reaction Alert cooperation.” He said the cooperation enables the two countries’ fighter jets to operate from each other’s air bases.

Kristersson said the operation was a concrete demonstration of the preparedness and trust built between the two countries, adding that it also showed the strength of Nordic, Nordic-Baltic and broader NATO cooperation.

Kristersson said, “In a tense security environment, we are stronger together,” adding that the Baltic Sea is at greater risk than ever before, but at the same time better protected than ever before.
