Lahbib: Only lasting peace can end the suffering
Brussels, August 13 (Hibya) – EU Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, said that only lasting peace and adherence to international humanitarian law can end the suffering.
Commissioner Lahbib expressed deep concern over allegations that the Rwanda-backed M23 committed ethnic cleansing during the ceasefire in the city of Rutshuru, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
She stressed that the EU, as always, will continue to support those most in need in line with humanitarian principles, adding: “Only lasting peace and adherence to International Humanitarian Law can end the suffering.”
