Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

According to a statement by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting addressed the development of traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Senegal. The expansion of cooperation in trade, economy, investment and humanitarian assistance, as well as strengthening the legal framework for bilateral cooperation, was emphasized.

The parties also exchanged views on important international and regional issues, including Senegal’s rotating presidency of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Confirming that Moscow and Dakar share similar principled approaches to most global issues, the parties agreed to continue coordinating their efforts at the UN and other multilateral platforms.
