Lazzarini: Man-made hunger can only be resolved through political will
New York, July 26 (Hibya) - Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), stated that man-made hunger can only be resolved through political will.
Lazzarini emphasized that the UN, especially UNRWA and its partners, must be allowed to operate broadly without bureaucratic or political obstacles.
He said that in Jordan and Egypt, there are aid supplies equivalent to 6,000 trucks waiting for the green light to enter Gaza.
"Delivering aid by land is easier, more effective, faster, cheaper, and safer. It is also more dignified for the people of Gaza. Finally, airdrops cannot prevent misuse of aid; principled humanitarian aid can. It reaches the real people in need. The latest USAID report confirmed there is no so-called systematic diversion of aid provided to Gaza."
