Lithuania reacts to Putin's visit to Etorofu
Vilnius, June 14 (Hibya) - Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys argued that Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Etorofu Island had increased regional tensions.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Budrys reacted to Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Etorofu Island, which Japan considers part of its Northern Territories.
Budrys said in a social media statement that Putin's visit sent a “provocative signal” and contributed to rising tensions in the region.
Expressing Lithuania's solidarity with its strategic partner Japan, Budrys said Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific security could not be considered separately.
Budrys said security is based on unity, resilience and a shared determination to uphold international law.
