Highlighting the importance of fighting poverty to him, Lula da Silva said, “Fighting poverty in communities and ensuring that every Brazilian is seen, respected and has opportunities continues to be a mission for me.”
Drawing attention to the scale of the work that remains to be done and the demands of the people, Lula da Silva said, “I know we have a lot of work to do. We are Brazilians, we are from Rio de Janeiro, we are workers.”
Lula da Silva concluded his statement by saying, “We are flesh-and-blood people who simply want to be seen and live with dignity.”
