Macron: Violence against women is a direct attack on our humanity
Paris, November 25 (Hibya) – French President Emmanuel Macron stated that violence against women is not a series of isolated incidents, calling it “a direct attack on our humanity.” He emphasized that such violence is a shame for society and a challenge to the collective conscience, stressing that it imposes a duty to act.
Macron noted that in France, more than three women every day fall victim to femicide or attempted femicide, saying: “Every day there is fear, pressure, and violence. Every day lives are shattered, destinies are broken, and children grow up in silence and tears.”
He recalled that since 2017, equality between women and men has been the “Great National Cause” of both his presidential terms. Macron highlighted that extensive measures have been taken to end violence: the 39 19 hotline operates 24/7, and police officers, gendarmes, and investigators receive specialized training.
He added that special phones and restraining bracelets are used for women in danger, with dedicated shelters and emergency assistance provided. Specialized centers have been established in every courthouse, along with a national database aimed at preventing domestic violence.
The President stressed that they will not give up as long as even one woman in France is a victim of violence: “We will fight to provide better support to victims, especially during moments of separation, to better monitor perpetrators, and to prevent recurrence more effectively.”
Macron concluded his remarks by saying: “We owe this to all the women who can no longer speak. We will act until the last silence is broken.”
