Pavel: Independent media is one of the fundamental pillars of democracy
Prague, November 25 (Hibya) – Czech President Petr Pavel emphasized that independent media is one of the most important pillars of democratic societies.
Pavel highlighted that independent media constitute one of the essential foundations of democratic societies, noting that high-quality investigative journalism plays a crucial role in monitoring political power and raising issues that may be uncomfortable for politicians.
Speaking at the Forum Media conference, Pavel stated that serious and reliable media outlets must be supported by all possible means and protected against attempts to silence them.
In his speech, President Pavel said: “Independent media is one of the cornerstones of a democratic society. It is vital to create conditions that allow the media to work freely and without pressure.”
Pavel also drew attention to the influence of media on society, their contribution to the quality of public debate, and the importance of ensuring an environment in which they can operate freely.
