Meloni: Violence against women is an act against freedom
Rome, 25 November (Hibya) – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated that violence against women is an act directed against freedom.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni emphasized that violence against women constitutes an assault on freedom. She noted that over the years important laws have been passed, penalties have been increased, and existing tools — such as the “red code” and preventive measures — have been strengthened. Meloni also said:
“We have doubled the funds allocated to anti-violence centers and shelters, strengthened and structured the ‘freedom income’ program, supported the emergency number 1522, and carried out innovative educational and awareness-raising activities.
These are concrete steps forward, but we are not stopping here. We must continue to do more every single day.”
