Metsola: Belarus will be free
Brussels, August 9 (Hibya) - European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said on the sixth anniversary of the 2020 protests in Belarus that Europe stands with the Belarusian people and will continue working for a Belarus where freedom, press freedom and the will of the people prevail.
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola issued a statement on social media to mark the anniversary of the 2020 protests in Belarus.
Metsola said that six years ago the people of Belarus rose up demanding change for their country’s future, adding that their voice has not been silenced in the years since.
“Belarus will be free,” Metsola said, adding that Europe stands with the Belarusian people and will continue working to ensure that freedom, press freedom and the will of the people prevail in the country.
