Metsola: We have created a more resilient EU carbon market
Brussels, October 21 (Hibya) - European Parliament President Roberta Metsola stated that the agreement reached on the Market Stability Reserve reform would increase predictability in the European Union's (EU) carbon market and strengthen competitiveness.
Commenting on the significance of the reform, Metsola said, "The agreed reform of the Market Stability Reserve will increase predictability and strengthen competitiveness."
Metsola noted that the European Parliament had created a carbon market better prepared to withstand supply shortages and price fluctuations, emphasizing that this would provide the confidence businesses need to invest and grow.
Metsola congratulated European Parliament Environment Committee Chair and rapporteur Pierfrancesco Maran, the Council of the European Union, and the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU for their contributions to reaching the agreement.
