In a statement, the ministry said it welcomed Prime Minister Robert Abela’s announcement of his country’s intention to officially recognize the State of Palestine.

The statement noted that the ministry views this announcement as consistent with international law, United Nations resolutions, and efforts to stop genocide, displacement, and annexation wars and to achieve peace.

"The ministry reiterates its call on states that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to take the initiative to do so in order to protect the two-state solution and choose the right side of history."
