Pavel: We must never forget the names and stories of the Holocaust
Prague, January 27 (Hibya) – Czech President Petr Pavel emphasized confronting the past and individual responsibility on the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Czech President Pavel stated that International Holocaust Remembrance Day is not only about remembering the past, but also a call to reflect on the responsibilities we bear as societies and individuals in today’s world.
Pavel pointed out that even today there are people who downplay the hatred-based Nazi ideology or sympathize with it, describing this as worrying.
Emphasizing that the number of Holocaust witnesses and relatives of the victims is decreasing day by day, Pavel said that preserving the legacy of the Holocaust and passing it on to future generations is of great importance.
Pavel said, “We must never forget the names and stories of the victims of the Holocaust.”
