People North of the Arctic Circle Seek Coolness in the River with Their Animals
Stockholm, July 28 (Hibya) – In Lansan, northern Sweden, temperatures reached 30 degrees Celsius amid a heatwave affecting mainland Europe.
Despite being just north of the Arctic Circle, temperatures in Lansan reached 30 degrees, an unprecedented level in years.
Reindeer herder Anna-Lena Kaati, who lives in the area, found relief by cooling off in the river with her reindeer and dogs.
In recent years, Sami-born Anna-Lena has run a guesthouse where visitors can experience Sami nomadic culture. She regularly bathes and swims in the river near her home, often taking her dogs and reindeer with her.
