Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic expressed support for the Croatian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina following a meeting of the leadership of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
Plenkovic stated that Darijana Filipovic, the elected Croat member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Dragan Covic, President of the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HDZ BiH), had also attended the meeting. He said they had congratulated Filipovic and their sister party on their results in the general elections. Plenkovic stated that they were awaiting the formation of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, followed by institutions at other levels of government.
Referring to discussions in the Croatian Parliament, Plenkovic said that debates had been held on the government's annual activities and the opposition's proposal to bring down the government.
Regarding the illegal waste disposal site in Gospić, Plenkovic said they understood residents' concerns and that the matter was being handled by judicial authorities. He stated that water supplied through the public drinking water network in Gospić and the Lika-Senj region was safe to drink, that there was no air pollution and that agriculture was not under threat, adding that remediation work was ongoing.
Plenkovic also noted that initial talks had been held between government representatives and public-sector trade unions, and that negotiations would continue the following week within the limits of budgetary resources and macroeconomic conditions.
