Prevot: We are fighting hate speech, intolerance and antisemitism
Brussels, Jan. 27 (Hibya) — Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot emphasized the fight against antisemitism and hatred on the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot noted that six million Jews and millions of other victims murdered in the Holocaust are being commemorated, stressing that remembrance is not merely a symbolic act but a daily responsibility.
Prevot said, “Belgium takes this responsibility seriously. We are fighting hate speech, intolerance and antisemitism in all their old and new forms.” Pointing to the importance of educating young people, he underscored the need to explain what allowing hatred to grow leads to.
Recalling that the Holocaust began with words, exclusion and indifference, Prevot stated that vigilance is therefore required every day. He added, “We remember—not to mourn, but to resist, so that ‘Never again’ remains not an empty slogan but a living pledge.”
