Qatar and 7 countries condemn Israel over Gaza
Doha, August 16 (Hibya) - Qatar, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Egypt condemned Israel's rejection of the roadmap for the Gaza ceasefire plan and of a Palestinian state.
Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Qatar and 7 Arab and Islamic countries condemned Israel's rejection of the roadmap prepared for the implementation of the comprehensive plan aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza.
The ministry said in a joint statement that Israel's position jeopardizes the implementation of the plan and undermines peace efforts in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. The statement noted that the roadmap had been accepted by Palestinian groups and includes the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the deployment of an international stabilization force, the transfer of Gaza's administration to a national committee and the reconstruction process.
The ministers called for the immediate and full implementation of the plan and rejected attempts to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state. They stressed that lasting peace can be achieved through a two-state solution providing for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The statement also emphasized the importance of the United States continuing its active role in ensuring the implementation of the plan and Israel's compliance with its obligations.
