Qatar and Egypt support ceasefire talks in the Gaza Strip
Doha, June 1 (Hibya) – The State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt are continuing their intensive efforts to bridge differences and address contentious issues to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, in line with the proposal of U.S. President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar and Egypt reaffirmed their intention to intensify efforts in coordination with the United States to overcome obstacles to negotiations. They also called on all parties to take responsibility and support the efforts of mediators seeking to resolve the crisis in the Gaza Strip and restore stability and calm to the region.
The two countries are also working to swiftly secure a 60-day temporary ceasefire that would pave the way for a permanent agreement, ease the unprecedented humanitarian crisis in the region, open border crossings, and allow the entry of humanitarian aid to relieve the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
