Rubio: India and Pakistan have agreed on a ceasefire
Washington, May 10 (Hibya) – U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that India and Pakistan have agreed on an immediate ceasefire and have decided to begin negotiations to discuss broad issues at a neutral venue.
Rubio stated that over the past 48 hours, he and U.S. Vice President JD Vance met with Indian and Pakistani leaders, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Army Chief Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Asim Malik.
He expressed satisfaction in announcing the agreement by both governments to a ceasefire and negotiations in a neutral setting.
"We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif for their wisdom, prudent approach, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace," Rubio said.
