According to a statement from the ministry, Minister Shaheen received the credentials of Sousa, the new head of the State of Palestine’s representation to Portugal.

Shaheen expressed deep appreciation for Portugal’s position and its recognition of the State of Palestine, emphasizing that this historic step demonstrates Portugal’s commitment to international law and paves the way for strengthening a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

Sousa, for his part, said he was honored to assume his duties in Palestine following his country’s recognition of the State of Palestine, and highlighted Portugal’s acknowledgment of the Palestinian Authority’s vital role in the governance of the Gaza Strip.
