Switzerland resumes representation in Baghdad after 30 years
Bern, October 24 (Hibya) – Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis officially inaugurated Switzerland’s new embassy in Iraq’s capital, Baghdad.
During the opening ceremony, Minister Cassis expressed his satisfaction that Switzerland is re-establishing its diplomatic presence in Iraq after more than 30 years.
“Switzerland will now be closer to the people of Iraq and is ready to strengthen dialogue and cooperation,” Cassis said, thanking the embassy team for their dedication and determination.
The new embassy is considered an important step in further developing diplomatic, economic, and humanitarian relations between Switzerland and Iraq.
