Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha met with Timor-Leste’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Freitas.

Sybiha thanked Freitas for Timor-Leste’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its votes at the United Nations in favor of a just and lasting peace.

The meeting addressed deepening relations between the two countries and expanding Ukraine’s ties with Portuguese-speaking countries, including cooperation with the Community of Portuguese Language Countries.

Sybiha and Freitas also discussed Ukraine’s growing relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and opportunities to deepen cooperation with Southeast Asia.

Sybiha expressed interest in strengthening political, economic and people-to-people ties across the region.

The meeting also addressed the humanitarian dimension of Russia’s war, the air raid alerts and attacks on cities that Ukrainians face in daily life, as well as Ukraine’s rapid development of defense technologies and asymmetric responses to Russian aggression.

Sybiha invited Freitas to visit Ukraine, continue the dialogue and see firsthand the realities of a country defending its freedom, independence and right to determine its own future.
