Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that citizens evacuated from Oleshky had crossed the Ukrainian border and reached safety after months of hunger and isolation. He emphasized the need to ensure uninterrupted humanitarian access for civilians who chose to remain in the city.

Sybiha thanked the United States and US First Lady Melania Trump for their mediation in the evacuation operation, noting that Ukraine had been drawing attention to the humanitarian crisis in Oleshky for months at international forums, including the United Nations Security Council. He also expressed gratitude to Pope Leo XIV, international partners, and Ukrainian Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets and his team, who coordinated the operation on the ground.

Stating that Ukraine had acted in good faith and kept its promise, Sybiha noted that the results achieved in Oleshky could serve as a confidence-building step and pave the way for further developments in the peace process.
