Sybiha: Stronger pressure could bring Russia back to the negotiating table
Kyiv, September 9 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin had argued that the United States should end all support for Ukraine, stating that Moscow's real intention is to continue the war.
Sybiha said in a post on his social media account that Putin's aide had said the United States should end all support for Ukraine in order to accelerate the end of the war.
Sybiha argued that the statement revealed Russia's true intentions, claiming that Moscow wants to continue the war without interruption instead of engaging in sincere diplomacy.
Sybiha claimed that Russian elites, together with Putin, live in a "parallel world" and prefer to send hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers to the front and drive the economy into decline rather than end a war they cannot win.
He said stronger pressure on Russia could put an end to the country's "delusions" and bring Moscow back to the negotiating table.
