Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha issued a statement regarding the US House of Representatives' passage of the Lindsey O. Graham Russia and Iran Sanctions Act.

Noting that the vote took place as Russia carried out a ballistic attack on Kyiv and new attacks on Odesa, Sybiha described the US Congress's decision as a message against Russia's continuation of the war.

Sybiha said, “This is the right response to Russia’s refusal to end its terror: uncompromising pressure must be applied to the aggressor to cut off financing for its war machine.”

Stating that the US Congress had sent a clear message, Sybiha said, “Russia cannot continue its aggression without consequences. The longer Putin continues this war, the higher the cost will be for him and his regime.”

Sybiha said Ukraine appreciated the bipartisan leadership in the House of Representatives and the members who supported the law, and also referred to the efforts of Senator Lindsey Graham, after whom the law is named, to defend freedoms and strengthen peace.

Sybiha also called on other partner countries to impose new sanctions, demanding “a full embargo, full entry bans on Russian participants in the war, full restrictions on the shadow fleet, and comprehensive blocking sanctions against Russia’s military-industrial complex.”

Sybiha concluded his statement by saying, “We can stop Putin by depriving him of the resources he needs to continue this war.”
