Trump clarifies remarks about San Diego and Los Angeles
Washington, October 8 (Hibya) - US President Donald Trump said a temporary increase in gasoline prices was an acceptable cost to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, arguing that his remarks about the bombing of San Diego and Los Angeles had been misrepresented.
US President Donald Trump denied reports claiming that he wanted the cities of San Diego and Los Angeles to be bombed. Trump explained that his remarks were intended to draw a comparison between a possible temporary increase in gasoline prices to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and the bombing of major cities.
Trump stated: "The fake and fabricated news is trying to say that I invited the enemy to bomb San Diego and Los Angeles. What I actually said was that a temporary increase in gasoline prices was a small price worth paying to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons."
Trump noted that the cost of San Diego or Los Angeles being bombed would be far greater, saying: "All I did was compare paying a little more for gasoline for a short period of time with having our major cities bombed."
Trump maintained that his remarks were clear and criticized reports suggesting that he wanted San Diego and Los Angeles to be bombed.
