Trump said that the issue of U.S. access to rare earth elements had been resolved and that Washington would immediately lower tariffs on Chinese imports.

Although the fragile truce reached in May reduced retaliatory tariffs that exceeded 100% on both sides, trade tensions had begun to rise again.

Trump stated that the U.S. would immediately reduce tariffs on all Chinese goods previously imposed in response to the flow of chemical components used to make fentanyl into the U.S.

He also noted that, as previously announced, China would begin purchasing large quantities of soybeans, adding, “I appreciate that.”

The U.S. President said he had agreed with Xi to “work together” on Ukraine: “We’ll both work on it. We agree that the parties are in conflict, and sometimes you have to let them, but on Ukraine, we’ll work together.”

Trump also said he was “too busy” during this trip to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un but “might go back.”

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, he said, “I had a great relationship with Kim Jong Un. I think if I hadn’t been elected... he doesn’t like many others, I think there would have been a war.”
