During the meeting, bilateral relations, Ukraine’s reconstruction, and new sanctions against Russia were discussed.

Tsahkna noted that Estonian diplomats are working determinedly to adopt new European Union sanction packages against Russia and to utilize frozen Russian assets. He said, “We must ensure that the cost of this war for Russia continues to rise.”

He also stated that progress was discussed on establishing an international court regarding the crime of aggression against Ukraine and on cooperation within the framework of preparations for the Ukraine Reconstruction Conference, planned to be held in Estonia in 2027.

Tsahkna emphasized the importance of the welfare of the Ukrainian community in Estonia, saying, “Our support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is unwavering. We will never accept any change of borders achieved by force.”
