UAE: 2 ballistic missiles and 3 UAVs launched from Iran intercepted
Abu Dhabi, May 8 (Hibya) - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced that 2 ballistic missiles and 3 unmanned aerial vehicles reportedly launched from Iran were neutralized. Three people were injured in the incident, while new figures regarding the overall toll of attacks in the region were also shared.
The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense announced that on May 8, 2026, the country’s air defense systems detected and destroyed 2 ballistic missiles and 3 unmanned aerial vehicles reportedly originating from Iran.
The statement said that 3 people sustained moderate injuries as a result of the attack.
The ministry stated that since the beginning of Iran’s attacks against the UAE, air defense systems have neutralized a total of 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles, and 2,263 unmanned aerial vehicles.
According to the shared data, the total number of injured people rose to 230, including citizens of many countries. The number of civilian deaths was reported to have reached 10.
In its statement, the Ministry of Defense emphasized that the country remains at a high level of readiness against all threats and stated that “any attempt targeting the sovereignty, security, and stability of the state will be responded to decisively.”
